Texas.gov Supports Veterans with New Online Donation Service

Donations fund Texas Veterans’ assistance programs

AUSTIN, Texas – May 24, 2011 — Texas.gov, the official website of the State of Texas, in partnership with the Texas Veterans Commission, has launched the Fund for Veterans’ Assistance online donation service. Now Texans can make tax deductible donations online to the Fund which awards grants to charitable organizations, local government agencies, and Veterans Service Organizations that provide direct services to Texas veterans and their families. These grants address a broad range of needs that include counseling, housing assistance, legal services, job placement, emergency financial assistance, transportation, and more.

“With over 1.7 million Veterans living in Texas, the Texas Veterans Commission is constantly striving to meet their needs,” said Bill Wilson, Director of the Fund for Veterans’ Assistance. “The ability to provide an easy, secure online option for donations is a significant step toward ensuring Texas Veterans and their families continue receiving the assistance and benefits earned through service to their country and this great state.”

Texas NICUSA, LLC, the State’s private partner that operates theTexas.gov website, also celebrated the launch by donating $2,500 to the Fund via the new online service in commemoration of the one-year anniversary of Texas.gov. “With thanks and appreciation to our Texas.gov partners for a successful first year, we are honored to make a donation that will support the Texas Veterans Commission’s mission to help Texas Veterans and their families,” said Erin Hutchins, General Manager of Texas NICUSA, LLC.
