Our New Look

TexasOnline is now Texas.gov! As you can see, our website looks different than before. But don’t worry, we’ll help you make the switch to Texas.gov. Here are the answers to some of your questions about the change.

Why did you change the website?

In 2009, we conducted a survey with Texans to get their feedback on the old website. The results told us that it looked too busy, it was very difficult to find what they were looking for, and it needed to look more modern.

In response to this feedback, we simplified the design, gave the website a fresh, clean appearance, and created a more logical way to locate information and complete online transactions.

What happened to all the information that used to be on the TexasOnline homepage?

The new Texas.gov homepage still provides the same popular services and information, but in a more organized way.

Online services, such as driver license renewal and vehicle registration renewal, are available in the Do area. Our most popular services are also located in Quick Links near the top left-hand side of the page and immediately under the Do heading.

Topic-based information, such as business, government, and employment, is available in the Discover area. Our most popular topics are listed immediately under the Discover heading, but you can also click through to find more topics. This is the largest area of our site so feel free to spend some time browsing.

The Connect area is home to some of our website's exciting new features, such as social media, a mobile app, and community forum. You can still enjoy the beautiful photos of Texas here too. If you have a question or need some help, Ask is the place to start. In addition to frequently asked questions and live chat, you can quickly access helpful government information such as 211 and agency directory listings.

And last but not least, we offer a prominent Search box that lets you quickly search for exactly what you need.
